Leo Mol is a famous Winnipeg sculptor. He was born in Ukraine in 1915, came to Canada in 1949 and finally settled in Winnipeg in 1954. His output is prodigious, and not limited to statuary. Leo Mol's work is a "must see" for any visitor to Assiniboine Park.

The large area of the park dedicated to his work is generally known as the Leo Mol garden. It includes an outdoor sculpture garden with numerous figures of humans, bears and other animals, as well as a small indoor gallery and an active workshop/studio.
The garden is open all year. The other facilities are summer only. However, the sight of deer and bears in the snow make it worth the visit in winter too.
An extensive biography of Leo Mol (Leonid Molodozhanyn) is located offsite - see The extraordinary success story of sculptor Leo Mol.
