Assiniboine Park Footbridge

The Assiniboine Park Footbridge is a classic part of the park. Millions of visitors, as well as English royalty, have crossed it. Few people visit without spending at least some time on the bridge. The river view really shows off the forested nature of Winnipeg.

Footbridge

The Footbridge was built in 1932. In previous years, a wooden bridge was temporarily erected for spring and summer use. The bridge is wide enough to accommodate a small car. However, motor vehicles are not allowed. Most summer days fill the bridge with crowds of pedestrians, bicycles, strollers and dogs. A favorite activity of many people is to go to one of the ice cream stores or hot dog vendors on Portage Avenue then do some people watching on the bridge or continue on into the park.
